Postmodernism Disrobed

Juts wondering what people think about the terrible state Continetal Philsophy's in. A couple years ago a kind of intellectual expose was published by two physicists, Alan Sokal and Jean Bricmont (called Intellectual Impostors). They zoroed in on the flagrant mis-use of scientific ideas, but the deliberately off-centre, obscurantist, muddle-headed melange of half-baked ideas should be there for anyone to see. The most shocking is not that anyone thought to write like this, but that it was accepted and became in-vogue.

Just to give you as taste, here is a passage from one of Felix Guattari's 'works':

We can clearly see that there is no bi-univocal corresposndence between linear signfifying links or archi-writing, depending on the author, and this multi-refrential, multi-dminesional machinic catalysis. The symmetry of scale, the transversality, the pathic non-discursive nature of their expansion: all these dimensions remove us from the logic of excluded middle and reinforce in us our dismissal of the ontological binarism we criticized previously.

Its like the emperors new clothes, with all the wishy washy jargon some people like to use to sound intelligent.
