Drowning in despair

I'm sinking, lower, deeper in despair
I'm drowning, furthur, I'm running out of air
I'm choking, breathless, this song-bird's lost her song
I'm drifting, aimlessly but I don't know for how long.

The vultures are pecking and nibbling at my flesh
My wounds are weeping, the blood is red and fresh
Someone save me before it is too late
My patience is fading and losing out to fate.

The world is winning
Its thrown its final dice
And though the Earth keeps spinning
Its spinning at a price.

The Devil wants to trap you
and it doesn't matter how
Everything I try to do
is simply doomed to fail.

Its no good treading water
when all you get is cramp
and its no good pitching tent
when ther simply is no camp.

So I watch the wheel keep turning
and I wonder what is next for me
My heavy heart is burning
but God just doesn't seem to see.
