Therefore I am? |
for some time now, i have read a lot of statement ends with "therefore I am", for example, "i think, therefore i am", "i see, therefore I am", but what does "therefore I am" actually means? i don't plan to keep this thread long lasting...but i just want to grasp the concept of "therefore I am"...any comment?

thanks! great help!!!^^ but if "therefore I am" means to be sure of one's existence, than what make you existence, or make you think you exist?

From my perspective, a better way to state that is "I think I think, therefore I think I am." (Or, for the cool kids who like latin: Cogito cogito ergo cogito sum) Mainly due to a bunch of possible theories of existence.

perhaps the sensation of perceiving ones self as a entity from the outside looking in. there i am, there for i am, i must be.

What the original message was is debatable, however let me give you my translation as I see it to make the best logic. I think therefore I am = The sensation of thinking supports the concept of existing. In no way does the quote prove who or what "I am". Nor is it limited to "thinking".
