Completing the Picture and Virtual Similarity
A few ideas I've had on closely related topics...

First of the mind seeks to complete an abbreviated view of the world, for example looking at a dotted circle and joining the dots, or looking at someone face on and imagining the rest of them you cannot see...
Then of course you then abbreviate your experiences on the topic at hand to say something important (as opposed to relaying everything you've seen)...
This then leads to how some objects, sensations, or memories are virtually the same, which enables us to use a name or word used to convey the idea of them, how they are virtually the same...
It is interesting to note at this point, that, in order to conceive anything about our being that we're reliant on some sort of message (a word or name) to convey our conception...
It is also of note that the virtuality of the name or word is important in linking memory and action, as memories are reliant on messages, and actions have no purpose unless they serve to act on behalf of a message...
When you think of the body, one thought may be that the same body part will give the same reality when you think of or use it, but there's at least two flaws to that notion. First, that point of view (line of attack) may differ continuously. Second, that levels of activation continually differ. But, 'Yes, they are very similar.'.
There's more to this yet though. And it has to do with the reception of an abbreviated or incomplete message, when you shrink the message or model. What happens is that the dotted lines tend to get closer, making the lines appear more complete, such that, when you get small enough the picture is a complete one. This phenomenon allows for us to take a large picture that is sort of incomplete, and transform it to a complete picture simply by shrinking it. It is my thought that the nature of the mind in conceiving things on a grand scale involves just this idea, shrinking everything until it appears complete, thus giving a useful view. And that this is done automatically, perhaps as part of what is called reduction...

I would love to hear your thoughts on the topic, and am greatly interested if you know of a name for this kind of action, or if you know of someone who has described this kind of thing before... That kind of stuff...
