New Songs

It appears to me these days that a lot of songs on much music are only about how hot they are. Some women prancing around saying how hot they are and how much you need them. You know I can say with comfort that I don't need them. They're just some insecure whores who love to count money. Although I agree you can't base a relationship with no physical attraction, it can't rely on it. Basically boredom will strike once your tired of perfect.

And another thing while I'm at it is what happened to much music's shows. Instead of video flow they got shitty game shows, much on demand and reality TV shows. Yeah lets watch Jessica Simpson cruise around in her escalade. Or much on demand where they talk 95% of the time and 5% they actually show videos. I got new to these people no body cares what they have to say. Also after their stupid award show they decide to play it twenty times the next day.

They've lost their way. It use to be for the promotion of artist's music.

Much music are you talking about the channel? I used to have it and it was pretty sweet, they had one show called electric circus i think that showed different raves or something, dont remember it was like 5ive years ago. But, on the topic, you're right that music sucks. But pop has always sucked. It appeals to the masses and well lets face it the masses suck. They are really no better than animals. And sex is the most animal thing on the planet. Does it surprise you then that the best way to make money is to exploit that? It's funny because the Pussy Cat Dolls is actually a play off of the real pussycat dolls who, correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure it is a group of elite strippers or hookers or something in Las Vegas. HAHA. Television and music is going to shit. But only in the eye of the mainstream. There are still groups making great stuff. Dangerdoom for instance is an album put on by 2wo different hip hop heads that is based totally on Adult Swim, how cool is that? I'm not sure if you were only trying to talk about that one channel but i thought i'd go off for a minute..

I think music videos in general suck...Along with the lyrics. Of course pop, rap, country and all that crap are becoming more like porno videos than art, but even the other music genre minorities are sinking into the mire. It's hard enough to find a song you like without some biased statements, let alone a video that fits your taste. Fuse is getting a little better lately. <3

i agree with fin that pop has always sucked, cept for a brief period before we were born, when they had bands like deep purple and co topping the charts. Though atm i gotta say i really cant stand most of the mainstream stuff, r&b hip-hop etc, or the other end of the scale where u get to thrash metal, people who scream and cant play their guitars. though in the middle ground there is some quite good stuff, indie and rock.

I agree. It's hard to imagine that a couple decades ago, complaints were everywhere over songs that would seem like nursery rhymes to some of the, as Cynic-Al posted, the "(c)rap" of today. The lyrics are nearly always offensive to some group, be it a stereotypical group or a gender group, and the videos could be found more as porn than music videos, as earthenwings stated. It frightens me to think where the music industry could be in another couple of decades.

As said by cynic, indie's awesome. But i listen to anything but things that are just plain stupid.(techno is just fun) Music has been goin to hell, especially the videos. Good thing i just listen to the music and not so much the videos. The videos will def get worse, before they get better. Slutty conduct somehow has become popular and any sense of value has left. The only thing to do about it is hope it comes full circle and someone gains some sense of morality.

Every generation says this though. "The music is getting worse and going to Hell."

Question is, can the music industry get any worse?

And what are we criticizing, the morality of porn or the issue of having pop music focus on sex unfairly?

people like to critisize it because it gives them a sense of individuality. the industry cycles because of this. "popular" over time becomes "unpopular" and then "unpopular" becomes "popular." mainstream today was indie yesterday, indie today will be mainstream tomorrow.

I have little problem with sexual content in music, although it is disturbing that it's in nearly every song anymore. My main problem is how degrading music today is to a certain group, often women. Especially in rap, women are often referred to as sex tools and nothing more. I'm not saying the entire rap genre is bad or that all modern music is bad. Besides, '90's music will always be the best

New music sucks because, well, as mentioned before, everything that's mainstream sucks. It's all product, no art. If I want to listen to music I usually either listen to NPR or dig around in my local scene until I find something good. The availability of new music usually depends on what genre you like the most, so that factors in, too.

Pop stars give the average person what they want. Musicians who wish to make their own music will appeal to smaller groups depending on how musical the listener is and what they are capable of appreciating.

Fair point, but as I try not to consider myself an average person, I have all the right to have problems with modern pop culture/music.
