Theory or Action?
We all talk and discuss things for hours to find the single best explanation or plan. Others will just go out and do something with little or absolutely no thought. Is it better to be the ant that brings picnic scraps back to the queen until the day he dies or the ant that wanders off to look at a moving skyscraper and finds himself under a magnifying glass?

What? The analogy was a bit confusing.

This site is a site of mostly theories. You just don't see them accomplished. With the stuff I learned from this site, I apply to real life. I have become less sexist and judgemental and treat others more equally.

Fin, if I understand you correctly, this is a question about whether you wish to do labor or science. Well - to make it short - to each his own profession.

I think we need the ants that wander off to look at moving skyscrapers and find themselves under a magnifying glass if we ever want to make nests on other planets. But without the ants collecting picknick remains, we would not have enough resources to send out scouts to look for expansion. Because sooner or later, all picknick places will be exhausted and we will have to look for new picknick places.

personally, i prefer the skyscraper. i often get lost in my own thought (far to easily i feel), and would admit to being workshy on my good days, and just plain lazy on the others. i far prefer to think of new ways of using things, or looking at a problem, over learning about the ways others have used them and practising those ways. anything i learn in physics or maths, i tend to mull over, and come up with other considerations that no-one else has thought of. i also prefer to consider my own ideas on philosophy, than choose between the ideas of others. an example being my mid-stance on creationism or evolutionism, i believe god set evolution in place, and let it run, knowing how it would work. i could not survive being stuck 9-5 in a manual labour job, with no thought required.
