A Brave New World

I believe it is common knowledge now that it's us, the 20 somethings and younger who are going to have to grab this world by the horns and do what leaders, politians and armies the world accross have failed in doing... making this world a better place for EVERYBODY.

In this thread, I'd like to hear ideas from people on how to do this. Practicle ideas please. Because all of us have already thought of the things we can't get away with, Utopian and Anarchal societies won't work as long as we have free caring people and self righteous people sharing the same world!

we are but one step toward greatness. in my lifetime i would like to see great strides in africa. it is a broken continent with a lot of potential.

Okay, two ideas I have been entertaining came together recently.

1. A massive canal system, linking the west and east coasts in multiple locations. Tidal overfollow gets washed into automated desalenisation plants(Possibly solar) along each canal, providing fresh water for each country it flows through.

2. These same canals can have tidal power generators placed along the length of them... free power for every country it flows through.
