NY Law Enforcement Caught Doctoring Video of RNC Arrests

Videos Challenge Accounts of Convention Unrest

New York Times

April 12, 2005

"1,806 people arrested in New York last summer during the Republican National Convention"

" A sprawling body of visual evidence, made possible by inexpensive, lightweight cameras in the hands of private citizens, volunteer observers and the police themselves, has shifted the debate over precisely what happened on the streets during the week of the convention.

For Mr. Kyne and 400 others arrested that week, video recordings provided evidence that they had not committed a crime or that the charges against them could not be proved, according to defense lawyers and prosecutors."

"Last week, he discovered that there were two versions of the same police tape: the one that was to be used as evidence in his trial had been edited at two spots, removing images that showed Mr. Dunlop behaving peacefully. When a volunteer film archivist found a more complete version of the tape and gave it to Mr. Dunlop's lawyer, prosecutors immediately dropped the charges and said that a technician had cut the material by mistake. "

"Seven months after the convention at Madison Square Garden, criminal charges have fallen against all but a handful of people arrested that week. Of the 1,670 cases that have run their full course, 91 percent ended with the charges dismissed or with a verdict of not guilty after trial. Many were dropped without any finding of wrongdoing, but also without any serious inquiry into the circumstances of the arrests, with the Manhattan district attorney's office agreeing that the cases should be "adjourned in contemplation of dismissal.""

Oh come on leftwood, at least now they decided to make sure no violence can happen by putting the protesters in those really nifty fenced in (cages basicly) protest centers. I still laugh when I think of that . I thought we had the right to protest but apparently that is only for the special designated centers.

Which is a walk in the part to being arrested and thrown in a condemned building loaded with asbestos and whatever else that gave people rashes and chemical burns, some of which were held for days.

I recently having been pepper spayed and my rights violated in a small town in OK by the local police. A lawsuit is in the works with one of the top lawyers in that state. He has over 25 years experience and has mostly handled civil and criminal cases. He has eduacated me to the following: Freedom does not exist in America, Police lie all the time under oath and when caught most of the time do not suffer any penalties for it. Several small town courts across the US are not classified as "courts of record".Which means your fate is left up to a judge. These he stated are nothing more than revevenue generators for the town. This creates a business of lying, false charges, and overall total disregard for the usual out of twon and state defendant's rights. This I found is very true. A large billboard was erected on the interstate by someone who must have suffered similar injustices that I had experienced . The billboard read "FORMERLY WE SUFFERED FROM THE CRIMINALS
NOW WE SUFFER FROM THE LAWS.
The patrriot act is very scary and the new amendments to it are almost Nazi like. Beware ...................

There is no "almost" with comparison to Nazi tactics, you can superimpose with no ability to differentiate on key sections.

There is some reasonable legislature in the Patriot Act, there is also Nazi manifesto.

Its done like this, in these debates people's defense of America's actions in these respects cling to the good and reasonable points of any event, while dismissing the the bad, saying that anyone pointing out the bad is dismissing the good.

What they fail to comprehend is, in a criminal trial, if someone murders someone but saves another life or does some other good, this does not dimish that they murdered. They are still going to be punished, or are supposed to be.

Half truths and the best lights allow a cover for an endless stream of filth and corruption.

As in terms of policy, if Nazi's do unwarrented search and seizure, arrests without charges or representation, and threaten anyone who tells of these siezures and arrests with the same...

This is in the patriot act. Sorry if people make Nazi connections.

Tips programs, tell kids to turn in friends and family for money, uh, we used to sneer at Nazi's for this, sorry for pointing it out.

Nothing to see here, move along, don't question authority.

Perhaps the question is, when (or even if) will Americans get fed up with stuff like this, and how will we react?

Protesters Subject To Police Choking, Pain Compliance

Luckily, this is tame compared to footage I've seen of a peaceful right to life protest,

http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/february2005/230205brutaltruth.htm

expressed as having occured before violence protesting on that started to take place, where police were even breaking peoples arms, and yes women and elderly people alike.

Out of curiosity, what would you do if you saw a loved one sitting in protest being dragged, beaten, pressure pointed, gassed, limbs broken, by hordes of armed men?

Protesters: GOP, police went too far in New York

BY COLLEEN MCCAIN NELSON

The Dallas Morning News

(KRT) - They were captured in nets, handcuffed and thrown into crowded jail cells.

...The protesters describe being accused of blocking traffic while standing on streets that were barricaded off and of resisting arrest when videos show them following police instructions.

...Gael Murphy of Washington, D.C., said the protesters simply wanted to be heard. The co-founder of CODEPINK, a women's peace and social justice movement, snagged a pass to the GOP convention. She donned a pink slip (suggesting that the president deserved one) and wrote "Fire Cheney and Halliburton" on her outfit.

She said she didn't yell or wave her arms but positioned herself where TV cameras in Madison Square Garden might catch a glimpse of her message. Instead, she said, she was wrestled to the ground and hauled off in handcuffs. "We weren't told what we were charged with," Murphy said. "We weren't read our rights. We weren't offered a phone call."
Once free, she realized that fighting a disorderly conduct charge in New York would not be convenient or cheap. Nearly five months and a couple train trips after her arrest, a judge dismissed the charges.

"Is it about security, or is it about keeping unwanted voices out of the room?" Murphy asked.

...Protester Rachel Clarke-Alvarez, a teacher from Houston, said she was held in a standing-room-only lockup for two days. Meals were rotten apples and stale cheese sandwiches. Showers weren't an option. And there were chemicals on the floor.

"People woke up with rashes. We had to organize chants to scream our demands ... like, `We need the bathroom,'" said Clarke-Alvarez, whose case was settled with adjournment in contemplation of dismissal.

Bill Goodman, a New York lawyer who is spearheading a class-action lawsuit, said mass arrests were used to control crowds. His complaint also asserts that demonstrators were subjected to prolonged and unreasonable detention and inhumane conditions.

CAUGHT SPEAKING UP

NEW YORK JUSTICE

64 percent agreed to have the charges dropped after six months of good behavior (adjournment in contemplation of dismissal)

24 percent had charges dismissed

9 percent pleaded guilty or were convicted of a violation, an offense less severe than a misdemeanor

2 percent were acquitted

1 percent pleaded guilty or were convicted of a misdemeanor

It's good that this is getting out into the public, but one can only wonder how much more there is that we don't know about.

Think "The Matrix", I would say its fairly safe to think of it this way, there is basically an alternate reality to our entire history, as kooky as that sounds, but what people need to wake up to, is what secrecy, lies, mixed with either malicious or generally tyrannical power hungry motives in people with power adds up to.

It is a well established fact that secret societies are common especially among the elites and generally benign, and that all humans lie, we also know that National Security and compartmentalization prevents the public and even insiders from knowing jack shit about reality in terms of governmental operations of any sensitive nature, which unfortunately includes the most likely scenarios where missuse of power occurs.

This missuse of power is only possible in our system of government if it is protected by a powerful and intricate web of corruption, not even traditional ideas of conspiracy, just corruption, and not even necessarily pre-corrupt puppets, black mail, bribes, and believe it or not just simple praise and attention takes care of soooo much so easily it isn't even funny.

Oh, and as for this getting into the public, most are in dissagreement, denial, or flat out confusion and basic lacking of understanding, mainly because all of this info isn't presented as a problem or put together in any form other than the "official story", if its lucky enough to get covered by any form of mainstream news, and for more than five minutes. Because a lot of people simply never see such information, let alone its implications.

Senate Committee to Review Controversial Patriot Act Legislation in Secret; Draft Legislation Hidden from Public

May 17, 2005

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Media@dcaclu.org

WASHINGTON – The Senate Intelligence Committee announced today that it is rushing forward with a markup of Patriot Act reauthorization legislation Thursday, but that the session will be behind closed doors.

Some of the most extreme parts of the Patriot Act are set to sunset, or expire, at the end of this year unless Congress reauthorizes them. When lawmakers passed the Patriot Act just 45 days after 9/11, they included these sunsets because they knew that some provisions shouldn't be made permanent. The committee will be reviewing legislation involving the sunsets and other key parts of the Patriot Act that impact civil liberties.
