Man arrested for wearing Grinch mask

WHEELING, W.Va. - A man is in trouble with the law for wearing a Grinch mask in public.

Norman Gray, who was stopped by police on Tuesday, was told to take the mask off and not put it on again.

Police say Gray took the mask off and asked why he couldn't wear it. After officers told him that wearing masks in public is illegal, he reportedly put the mask back on and said he didn't believe it. advertisement

On Tuesday, a former NSA employee, Russell Tice, testified before the House Government Reform Subcommittee on National Security, Emerging Threats and International Relations. Tice told the committee that he was concerned that undisclosed domestic spying programs were far more widespread than the recently exposed Bush/NSA warrantless wiretap program.

One or more still classified "Special Access" surveillance program may be monitoring the communications of "millions of Americans". While Tice could not share classified details of the program(s), he believes that the Constitution and FISA laws are being violated.

The hearings focused on protection for whistleblowers and a pattern of retaliations by the Bush Administration. This article from the Christian Science Monitor provides an excellent summary of testimony from whistleblowers appearing before the committee.

Sedition is a word with a long, and embarrassing, history in the United States, beginning with the "Alien and Sedition Acts" passed by our second President, John Adams, and used to arrest a number of newspaper publishers who supported opponents of Adams' Federalist party. Fortunately for the country, the law expired on the last day of Adam's first (and only) term in office.
Sadly, Adams was not the last president to suppress dissent through the use of laws against sedition. Woodrow Wilson, during World War I, enforced two laws, the Espionage Act and the Sedition Act, that provided for the arrest of anyone who expressed antiwar or anti-government opinions. Over 2000 people were arrested, the most famous of which was Socialist spokesman Eugene V. Debs, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

KeepAndBearArms.com -- The Phoenix Federal Bureau of Investigation created a flyer some time back during Clinton's Presidency, asking the recipients to help them fight domestic terrorism. I received one of these flyers this past weekend at the Arizona "Freedom in the 21st Century" gathering. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (Greater Phoenix, Arizona) and the Maricopa County Attorney were placed on the flyer, as well -- before they saw the actual wording of the flyer -- in an effort by the FBI to "work jointly with local law enforcement."

Called the Joint Terrorism Task Force, the program was created, presumably, to help preserve the American way of life. This flyer was created -- by the feds -- to disseminate information about who the bad guys might be. However, its wording made it look like a disinformation campaign to paint at least a few groups of Real Americans as domestic terrorists. Among other things, the FBI was asking people:

"If you encounter any of the following, Call the Joint Terrorism Task Force":

"defenders of the US Constitution against federal government and the UN"

[That describes many civil liberties groups and most gun rights and American Sovereignty groups in existence -- and, by extension, their members.]

"Groups of individuals engaging in para-military training"

[Such as, perhaps, shooting your semi-automatic "assault weapon" with some friends out in the desert?"]

Also being sought are "Common Law Movement Proponents" who

"Request authority for a stop"

[That's illegal now?]

"Make numerous references to the US Constitution"

[That's illegal now?]

"Attempt to 'police the police'"

And let's not forget the other potential "domestic terrorists" being sought. We really need to watch out for these people:

A Virginia training manual used to help state employees recognize terrorists lists anti-government and property rights activists as terrorists and includes binoculars, video cameras, pads and notebooks in a compendium of terrorist tools.

The manual, discovered by the Virginia News Source, is keen to emphasize that terrorists are not only Middle Eastern in scope and the main focus is afforded to domestic terrorism.

Included with Hamas, Al-Qaeda and Islamic Jihad, the following groups are identified as terrorist organizations.

In any anti-government and militia movements
Are property-rights activists
Are in any racist, separatist and hate groups
Are an environmental and animal rights activist
Are a religious extremist
Are in a street gang

Interesting. That's unfortunate, for I would like to hear yours, and any, solutions.

Any solution to a problem such as this, in its size and intricacies, there have to be steps taken, depending on personal resources and connections especially, of which I have next to none.

And seeing as how I am not Superman and able to do what needs to be done alone, I must take the most logical of first steps.

The next is what I do here and among appropriate social encounters, and that is to share such information, educate others, get them to stop believing every thing that is fed and think critically. A very important factor in this is providing evidence or resources to obtain evidence.

Keeping in mind that any "evidence" is generally just as unprovable from my possistion as any official story. But when I can deliver conflicting officially sourced material, people can at least see that someone is lying. Then find out who stands to gain, add in some history research and people can start to see things for themselves.

Solution? Honestly? I don't have one more than what is basically stated above. Once the majority is educated rather than brainwashed, and they realize there are actual crimes and treason being commited by members of our government, rather than just incompetence or low level corruption, people as a whole will unite and act.

V for Vendetta, minus the explosions, is the basic answer, the people must learn the truth and then act together. Little else stands a chance.

The biggest problem with all of this is that this government isn't so stupid as to not be prepared for the people to act.

They know its our sworn duty as citizens to correct corruption and even overthrow a criminal government.

And this is exactly why they have implemented such laws as the Patriot Act

Veteran Assaulted and Banned By VFW Post For Questioning Official 9/11 Story

An American Patriot who served in combat was allegedly assaulted April 1, 2006 at VFW Post 445 for voicing comments.

Richard Schramm has been arrested and charged for assaulting Retired Photographer's Mate 2nd Class Mark Duryee in Charleston, South Carolina. Duryee indicated that he required medical attention for his injuries.

Subsequently, Duryee has had his canteen privileges suspended and may be permanently barred from the locale for his role in the incident on April 1, 2006. This is ironic, since Duryee was allegedly assaulted by Schramm, who was then the post's Commander and is now its Quartermaster.

The very person who was charged for assaulting Mr. Duryee had him barred from the VFW post by calling together the house committee who suspended his privileges. Duryee has a right to frequent the VFW as a dues-paying veteran.



These circumstances are very dangerous for free speech. It is of the utmost importance that Mark Duryee has his access to VFW Post 445 reinstated. Otherwise, it is precedent that a citizen of the United States can be first assaulted for voicing his views and then punished for creating an 'incident,' in this case, caused only by Duryee's quiet free speech with a friend. This is outrageous discrimination.



Mr. Duryee contacted Jones Report and told us that he was discussing problems with the official 9/11 story and mentioned such films on the topic as 'Martial Law 9-11: The Rise of the Police State' and 'Loose Change.' Schramm and others at the VFW's canteen overheard him and told him to, "shut up or get out." When Duryee refused, Schramm allegedly attacked him from behind, then knocked Duryee to the floor where he was reportedly kicked and stomped.

Richard Schramm could not be reached for comment Tuesday or Wednesday. An attempt was also made to contact the arresting officer, who could not be reached for comment either.

The phone number for VFW Post 445 is (843) 795-9419. The Charleston County Courts website lists Mr. Shramm's recent arrests, which include, since 2000, not only the charge of Assault & Battery from this incident, but also charges of D.U.I., Reckless Driving and Gambling/Unlawful Games.

NSA has massive database of Americans' phone calls

The National Security Agency has been secretly collecting the phone call records of tens of millions of Americans, using data provided by AT&T, Verizon and BellSouth, people with direct knowledge of the arrangement told USA TODAY.

The NSA program reaches into homes and businesses across the nation by amassing information about the calls of ordinary Americans - most of whom aren't suspected of any crime. This program does not involve the NSA listening to or recording conversations. But the spy agency is using the data to analyze calling patterns in an effort to detect terrorist activity, sources said in separate interviews.

"It's the largest database ever assembled in the world," said one person, who, like the others who agreed to talk about the NSA's activities, declined to be identified by name or affiliation. Security issue kills domestic spying inquiry

WASHINGTON The government has abruptly ended an inquiry into the warrantless eavesdropping program.

The Justice Department says the National Security Agency has refused to grant its lawyers the necessary security clearance to probe the matter.

The Justice Department announced its decision in a fax to New York Congressman Maurice Hinchey, whose office shared the statement with The Associated Press.
