Controle |
When you can't controle your life, like, the way things are, you seek other ways to controle, whether you realize it or not. You can't controle your past, what happens to you, your future, but you can controle some things. For example, I can controle what I eat, and how much or how little I feel like eating. It gives you some sort of security that amidst all this chaos, theres something that you can controle. You can controle the way you see things, the way you handle things. Some people cut because it gives them power, in a way. Instead of feeling emotional pain, they can chose to feel physical pain. They can controle how much they hurt, for how long, and the intensity of the pain. These sort of things only affect you, and no other person, and they can't take that controle away from you. If you can't controle things around you, you compensate by controlling yourself. Having some sort of power makes you feel safe. Sometimes it's fine, but sometimes it could get too dangerous, and the things you thought you can controle ends up overpowering you. Theres a fine line between knowing your in controle, and believing that you are.

Too much controle over something like eating could turn into anorexia, but you don't realize it until it's too late, and even then, you still might not see that it's a problem. But I agree when you say that having some sort of controle gives you security. Having absolutly no controle over anything, especailly your life makes you seek out ways to gain controle where others can't. I'm not just talking about controle in general, but an overcoming need of it, which could lead to serious problems.
