Beautiful Ignorance


Although the birds wake to sing,
Undaunted, with naive glee,
Hope is not what life will bring,
So easy to sing while unable to see,

Although humans are cursed with this sight,
Not all are forced into helpless grieve,
A few are allowed to see beyond latent blight,
Ignorance, tied in a bow, as the gift of reprieve,

Those gifted are to be looked at with envy,
If they speak, you'd best to give ear,
For their formula of ignorance may be what sets you free,
From the crippling disease of assumption's fear,

And if there are none to guide,
Then search evermore,
For fear is our truth and is to be taken in stride,
Either with eyes in crippled concealment, or blind and in the fore.

Sweet Apples, Sour Grapes

The joyful glee given by divine influence,
Such a sight to see,
From eyes as these, so far removed,
From God, His son and Mary,

Looking on with admiration,
Lacking means to mimic,
My mind can find no consummation,
Of belief in faith as more than gimmick,

But pray not for me, godless I will stay,
For the thoughts I have cannot conform,
To an ancient dogma's ancient way,
Of lacking tolerance for change and reasonable reform,

But looking still at their ignorant bliss,
Could be nothing less than a chore,
As life without God is something to miss,
Having lost him, I sit envious of times before.
