what is it we feel?

Ive been troubled lately with the issue of feelings and emotions. There are non stop scientific explanations about hormone receptors blah blah blah. But also theres the theory of the freely feeling soul which is independant of our minds. Are feelings and emotions actual entitys inside of us or are we only using our imaginations sub- consesously when we have these feelings? Can you say you love some one if you think that love is merely a concept inyour mind brought about by chemicals in ur brain? I want to know whether love is an actual, special feeling that you get when you find the "one" or if its just a buzz word to exploit a chemical imbalance. Why can some people feel love if its such a world wide and almost necessary appeal?

To me it does not matter if it is a chemical reaction or my soul shinning- I love my Lady she is not Mrs. perfect but I have a great emotional attachment to her. I think just throw that theory in the trash you are what you are and there is really no point in disecting what that is because you cannot change it.

Life can be a peice of crap or a glorious flower it is up to you.

Eventually, scientists might be able to change it.
Cloning has happened, now what about cloning personalities/traits or growing personalities....
And i dont beleive in souls =O

Love is just a concept of the mind used as an illusion for marriage and Religion. Although Love can be expressed as Loyalty and Emotional Attachment to a person you like very much.

No love is not any special feeling, just a buzz word. Its when you get emotionally attached to her and you start feeling happy together, no need for love, that is true hapiness.

well i cant just accept that thats who i am cuase then if eveyone took that atitude there would be no progress into the human mind if people just accepted that that was the way they were. Warrior i like you theory kinda makes sense compared to the luvy duvy stuff

Perhaps love is just a chemical thing a part of our evollution whose purpose is to keepe people together in order to propogate the species- as child rearing can take many years pair bonding is a necesity indeed- My thought is if that's the way it is that's the way it is you can't do anything about it (aside from some radical brain surgery or something like that) so you may as well make the best of it- why fight it anyway it a natural part of you life and the feelings can be great as well.

I really don't think it has anything to do with marrige or religion- it is simply a primal feeling that has evolved with us- As sentient and aware as we are we are still driven by seemingly illogical primal drives- which are necesary for our survival as individuals and as a species. I think a lot of people have a hard time accepting these feelings but like it or not they are there.

But I like WarriorX's notion of love as a buzz word- indeed it is so overused and abused (as a word) it has lost meaning. Also (take no offense) but you dudes are very young and have some more living to do- only time will reveal these mysteries to you.- well actually it just gets more complicated as you get older anyway so forget that....

I think I R Me has the origin of love pinned down very well.

What do you mean by feeling? Feeling as a in a terribly strong emotion which can bind us for a time to another person? Yes. Its origin however is most probably chemical and came about because it encourages sex, families and thereby succesful children.
That doesn't make the feeling any less beautiful or valid.

in the end "love" is simply a word. a word that associates a bond between people. everyone experiences it in numerous ways and on several different levels. people who get hung up on whether it has a scientific backing or a spiritual one miss the entire point of love.

im not saying the fact thats its a chemical thing doesnt make it any less valid or buetiful but u have to see from the points of veiw from people who prefare the ";love" thing to be special and everything like that. Why do some people get upset when u argue that love is just a hormone in a different place than it should be? Is love all we really have anmore this used up word that is the envy of millions around the world
