Droids: Yes? No?

We are just at the beginning of the dissemination of autonomous aerodynamic multifunctional devices (droids). A positive advance or Pandora's box?

I am interested in everyone's general feelings or insights into this new horizon.

Are we talking about killer drones that are now killing 100s of innocent people in the hope of taking out a few terrorists in Pakistan; whilst giving Americans a consequence free and automatic remote means of destruction?

Ummmm... let me think...

Depends who's controlling them and for what?
Are they going to take all human jobs? Then what will we do?
Advancements in robotics excites me and unnerves me at the same time.

Of course, this genie is already out of the bottle. I have heard that not just the military are using them. USDA uses them to survey crops. Individual business are beginning to use them. And there are even kits for the hobbyist.

But I know of no passed legislation to limit them that has passed, nor am I read on concept papers imagining uses outside of the common ones I have heard about.
