All part of being a human, I suppose. There isn't any "humane" way to deal with mutated types, other than imprisonment. And that's become an expensive alternative. Remote penal colonies may solve the problem. Make them as self-sustaining as possible to lessen society's financial burden. But where?

The father of computer science, Alan Turing, was castrated for homosexuality. He was not violent. He was a genius. He committed suicide. Castrating violent criminals would be a bigger mistake. They would kill others before they take their own life. And, actually, this is probably what is already happening in cases where psychology castrated men like Adam Lanza go on a killing spree before killing themselves.
