Avenue Of The Baobabs |
These trees are amazing.
I can across this picture, with a surreal background that just looks unearthly, like something out of animation. But it's not imagination photoshopped out of someone's mind.
They trees are a particular breed of baobab, found only in Madagascar. These 25 meter high trees didn't always stand alone scattered around a sparse landscape. They used to a part of a canopy layer of trees hovering over a rich forest.
Due to deforestation and farming, the forest and most of these huge trees were destroyed. All that remain are these baobabs along a dirt road that is now referred to as 'Avenue or Alley of the Baobabs'.
