Cactus Cell Phone Towers
Does everything have to "blend in" and be aesthetically pleasing? Isn't there a point at which such plights become silly? What the hell am I going on about? Take a look at this:

Apparently that's not a real cactus on fire. It turns out that in parts of the US, there are companies that create "Huge fake saguaros" as well as other shapes and things like fake (very clearly fake) palm trees, to conceal cell phone towers and wireless networking ports. Does anyone else here agree that this is pretty lame? Wouldn't it be cooler and more appealing if they just build techy looking things instead of huge and awfully fake plants?

It's weird, I think I've seen structures like these during visits to the States, I just never knew their purpose.

'God' speaks in mysterious ways. Wirelessly maybe? This cross is another 'concealed' piece of work.

I could see the appeal in urban areas, but out in rural areas?

Shocking.

Dawn, I thought you were a American?

Nope, I'm not American. I guess you haven't yet listened to my welcome voice post?

@Dawn: You sound either Canadian or an Aussie.

I just listened to your Welcoming Voice, Canuck!

Rainman05 - what a guess, I'm 'well impressed'

@BSR - I've lived here for like 4 or so years now (Canada), but you're the first to call me a Canuck!

I am so surprised that you both could hear Canadian in my accent. Very very surprised. My accent can fluctuate quite a bit, but I had thought that when it goes north, that it sounds more American, but I guess I've been here too long to notice the Canadian working it's way in.

Canadians have a twang in their voice. I just guessed really, either American or Canadian. I'm Scottish, so I know my UK accents, and there's touch in there.
