Where do Cheetahs live?

I know they must live in Africa, but which parts of Africa? and where do they actually live, like do they sleep in trees or do they live in caves? I really like cheetahs, I wish I could have one.

Cheetahs are cool. I had forgotten that they are the fastest land mammal.

It's sad because apparently only 100 years ago cheetahs could be found living in at least 44 different countries within Africa & Asia and their population was far greater (more than100,000 cheetahs world wide). Now only less than10% of that number remain - that's only 10,000 cheetahs world wide, and the numbers are decreasing.
