http://www.davidbain.org/pain The Pain Project is an international, interdisciplinary research project focused on relations amongst pain, perception, and emotion, as well as pain in non-human animals. It runs from 1 January 2012 to 30 June 2013.
Based in the University of Glasgow (Philosophy, School of Humanities), the Principal Investigators are Dr David Bain and Dr Michael Brady. The project is part of an overarching research programme, Pain and the Nature of Minds, run by the University of Notre Dame and funded by the John Templeton Foundation.
Project members, including a postdoctoral fellow, comprise philosophers of mind and cognitive science, ethicists, neuroscientists, and veterinary scientists, in Glasgow, Paris, and Oslo. They are, in addition to the PIs, Jennifer Corns, Frederique de Vignemont, Siri Leknes, Jacky Reid, Marian Scott , and Lesley Wiseman-Orr. (See below for details.)
The project will hold four workshops and, at its end, a large international conference whose proceedings will be collected in a volume edited by Bain, Brady, and Corns.
