Capitalism Sucks! Sexual Puritanism Sucks!

American Capitalism is characterized by sexual puritanism. In a case that was recently in the news a 45-year-old woman was put on trial for having consensual sex with a 17-year-old. In another case an 18-year-old high school senior was sentenced to jail time for having consensual sex with his girlfriend, a sophomore who was just shy of her 16th birthday. Over and over again in state after state Americans are being put in jail for having consensual sex. This is a nationwide anti-sex witch hunt.

To make matters worse teenagers are being prosecuted as "child pornographers" for sending revealing photos of themselves to their boyfriends and girlfriends. Once prosecuted these teenagers often have to register as "sex offenders" for the rest of their lives!

This sexual puritanism is so hypocritical. Instead of "saving the kids" this sexual puritanism is ruining the lives of people who have done nothing wrong. What the government should be doing is saving young people from poverty. One out of every five kids in this country is growing up in poverty. All this talk about saving kids from sexual predators serves mainly as a distraction to blind us to the fact that many American children are suffering from poverty and rotten public schools. Under capitalism kids suffer immensely when their family home is foreclosed upon by some bank. In addition, police are shooting minority teenagers in the back.

Capitalist politicians of both political parties along with religious extremists are absolutely obsessed with teenagers having sex. The capitalist politicians and the religious extremists do not seem to be too concerned that young people are growing up in poverty. If many of our young people and their families are living in shelters because they've lost their homes the capitalist politicians and religious fanatics do not care. Instead, capitalist politicians and religious extremists are more concerned about teenagers having sex.

Guess what? Teenagers have been having sex ever since there have been teenagers. Telling teenagers not to have sex is like telling the sun not to shine. Currently the United States of America has the worst sexual education in the entire industrialized world. Instead of teaching teenagers how to avoid pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases the teenagers are often taught abstinence, which clearly isn't working! As a result the United States of America has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in the entire industrialized world.

And how many people are dying of AIDS? While the US government spends endless hundreds of billions of dollars on exotic weapons systems relatively little is spent on a cure for AIDS. The reason for that is that capitalism likes war, but the puritanical capitalist system does not approve of sex. Under capitalism endless military spending is good for the bank accounts of war-profiteers, but sex is immoral.

Look at television! Children are exposed to hour after hour of endless violence on television, but god forbid there should be public service announcements on television showing people how to correctly use both male and female condoms. The capitalist politicians and religious fanatics would never permit that!

Capitalism is insane. Under capitalism war is considered good and sex is considered immoral. Let's just get rid of capitalism and replace it with socialism.

Under socialism sex will be treated as something natural. Instead of being taught abstinence young people will be taught how to prevent sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies. Under socialism the age of consent will be lowered to take into account the fact that teenagers have always had sex and always will have sex. Once puberty begins a young person experiences large-scale changes in both their psychological and physical state that anyone with two eyes can see. Teenagers are not children. Anyone who can't tell the difference between a teenager and a seven-year-old child is blind.

When I say that socialism will bring a more rational approach to sexuality I am of course speaking of the socialism of Lenin and Trotsky. Within a couple of years of the October 1917 Revolution all homophobia laws in Russia were taken off the books, and women received the right to an abortion.
Joseph Stalin of course reversed these advancements, and everyone needs to understand that when it comes to sexuality the Stalinists are every bit as reactionary as the capitalists. What we need is the socialism of Lenin and Trotsky.
