Star Trek Online |
No server separation like in WoW. Space battles are fun, PvP is interesting. Leveling doesn't take too long, nor making friends. Economy is a bit shallow atm, makers are looking to take the Star Wars Galaxies approach. I wish it was more EvE Online though. No more dailies just to keep up with your repair bill for raids and pvp. End game is supposed to be episodic content, updated monthly or so. Ground combat to me is fairly boring IMO. Makes me only miss the space combat more. Im @zelnor if anyone wants to try.

After playing STO I remain impartial to the game. Just like every other RPG there are more grind elements that eat up the first month or so of playing. After queuing up for PvP I found myself playing that constantly, its addicting, challenging and rewarding. Pros: You do feel like the captain, in Star Trek, the storyline is fairly enjoyable. Space is fun, Ship combat in PvP is great! Lots of friendly people. Treckies play. If you ever met a treckie, they are probably some of the better people you'll meet... on average. Girls will check it out. But not as cute as WoW and no little pets means fewer will stick. But you can customize your character to your liking. Great immersion factor. Cons: MMORPG grind tastic. Ground action is boring by comparison to the Ship combat.

Overall this has been a great disapointment. Each patch has been shifting Cryptics original goal of how you progress and play the game and shaping into more like a mod of World of Warcraft. If your a Star Trek fan, and enjoy World of Warcraft, Youll probably enjoy this.
