CIA speaks out?

The other nite I watched a program that declaring that the CIA was issuing these statements (program) in order to set the record strait about it's actions (activities) in Afghanistan (=> Iran, Iraq). I am wondering what others thought about the program?
Interestingly I was amazed that they admitted that they had Ben Laden cornered & ready to surrender, only orders from the top were to bring his head in on a platter rather than to seek a peaceful resolution to the whole sorted affair?
