Africa: Racist attacks, hate-speech growing against Afrikaners, leaders warn

Two political parties in South Africa yesterday expressed deep concern over the growing hate-speech and the growing incidents of racism-related violence with which 'whites' -- mostly Afrikaans-speakers -- are being targetted with by black government officials, especially law enforcement officers.
This problem is countrywide and also includes the fact that many black policemen now refuse to respond to emergency calls whenever Afrikaner families are attacked inside their homes – and Afrikaners are increasingly also attacked in public and becoming terrified by police officials. See here and here
The white Afrikaner residents of Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa are living in fear after nine white elderly couples were attacked and cruelly mauled, with two women raped, within just two weeks.
All the men were cruelly beaten up while they were tied up by their hands and feet, by this particularly violent knife-gang 'with foreign African accents', local police say.
Pictured here are local Lawyer Dion Röder (63), and his wife Talita, still badly bruised after they were attacked on December 17 in their home. This lifetime resident of Ladysmith also says he's never seen the towns people so afraid. Röder said he and Talita were attacked, his wife fought like a lioness to stop her sixteen-year-old daughter Michelle, who was visiting from Canada, from being gang-raped.They were all getting ready for bed when four men suddenly loomed up out of nowhere in the couple's bedroom, he said.
The lawyer tried to fight them off but there were just too many of them and they tied him up after giving him a thorough beating. Then they forced him to watch while these four men beat up his wife, kicking and hammering at her with their fists.Talita meanwhile tried to protect her terrified daughter by shielding her with her own body so that they couldn't reach her. Röder said he pleaded with the men not to rape the women - and they then replied that they 'weren't in the business of raping women'.
However two other white women were raped just a few days later in identical attacks. Police believe these attacks are all carried out by the same gang. The lawyer says he everybody is buying even more burglar alarms and security fencing than they had before -- and signing up enmasse with security companies. "We aren't used to this kind of violence, Ladysmith has always been a reasonable peaceful village,' he said.
In one attack on Christmas eve, a 70-year-old woman was gang-raped by seven attackers, and on the same night, another woman's jawbone was smashed. All the attacks occurred within a radius of just 1km. The owners of a Ladysmith guest house, Andy and Sheila Breedt, were also attacked by five armed men in their bedroom while they were asleep inside their secured home. Her face was beaten to a pulp. Police superintendent Sakkie Tredoux, who examined the forensic evidence, said these attacks were all carried out by the same gang, armed with large knives. From witness statements it also appeared that they were not South African - their tribal language indicated that they came from another African region.
Tredoux said the gang had managed to crawl underneath electrified fences, get past fierce guard dogs and even got across razor-wire to reach their victims.Often, very little of real value is ever stolen - although Mr Röder's shotgun was stolen, and they drove off in Röder's car, such 'farm-attackers' usually abandon the cars within a day and do not steal them for financial gain.Police captain Charmaine Struwig of the Ladysmith police confirmed that they have stepped up patrols in town, and also are coordinating their crime-fighting efforts with the private security companies to create an umbrella security network.
Nobody has thus far been arrested.

Police inspector Thabani Zikalala, 54, gunned down in Ladysmith
Captain Charmaine Struwig said veteran Ladysmith police inspector Thabani Zikalala was on his way to work on Monday when he walked past a shop that was being robbed. He heard shots being fired.Zikalala was struck by a bullet and died at the scene.Three suspects were seen fleeing in different directions.
"Earlier, they had ordered staff to lie on the floor. They took cellphones, air time vouchers and cash."
Police converged in the area and followed two of the suspects into Forbes Street."Shots were fired at police, who retaliated. One armed suspect was shot dead while the second suspect was arrested," said Struwig.Later, a third suspect was arrested."The firearm used by the suspects was recovered, however, none of the stolen property was found," she said.Police suspect there may have been a fourth man involved in the crime.Zikalala had served the South African Police Service for 32 years and colleagues said they were devastated by his death. – Sapa

Afrikaners increasingly terrified of police
The Transvaal Agricultural Union, who represents the country's small number of white commercial farmers, said last week that there was so little trust left between black police officers and Afrikaners, that many expressed 'increasing terror of having to deal with police.'

3031 FARMERS MURDERED SINCE 1994
The trade union also recorded a rapid increase of armed attacks targetting white farmers since December 1 last year. In Gauteng province, 33 farmers were killed in a total of 47 attacks by armed gangs; North West province has 7 attacks; the West Cape 6, North Cape 2, Southern Cape 1, KwaZulu-Natal and Free State 8, Mpumalanga 17 and Limpopo province, 8.
Proportionally higher murder rate for Afrikaner minority:
They also point out that the proportional murder/homicide rate targetting Afrikaans-speaking whites was 10%; whereas this -- very visible -- minority only represents 7% of the entire population.
Countryside methodically cleansed of all Afrikaners:
Since the last official SA government census in 2001, Solidarity trade union reports, there has been a massive, forced exodus by 'whites' from all the traditional Afrikaner rural areas due to the widespread farm-confiscations and the ongoing violence targetting white Afrikaners families. These farmers for years still managed to produce food for the commercial markets while also living in a constant state of siege from armed militia-style gangs which are only targetting Afrikaner homesteads and killing their patriarchs.
This year, two census surveys were carried out by experts from Solidarity trade union's Helping Hand charity to establish the extent of empoverishment among Afrikaners due to this ethnic-cleansing of the countryside - and to locate these 'hidden, secret pockets of Afrikaner poverty' so that these people can be helped with upliftment programmes launched by the widely-respected trade-union.
Their two surveys found that rural Afrikaners are fleeing enmasse from their besieged traditionally-Afrikaner countryside to urban areas: an average increase of 35% was recorded in the Afrikaner populations of the Western Cape and Gauteng provinces by Solidarity since the official SA government census was carried out in 2001- over the past eight years, hundreds of thousands of Afrikaners had started living in squatter shacks, socalled ' informal housing ' such as those pictured here.
http://www.helpinghandfund.co.za Afrikaners believe that this is an ongoing, secret genocide targetting their community.
See
http://afrikaner-genocide-achives.blogspot.com There is indeed considerable proof that there are organised farm-attack gangs which also include on-duty police officers, and who are targetting only whites: last year, the entire eight-member criminals-investigations team at the Magalies police station was arrested and charged with carrying out a large number of armed attacks targetting Afrikaner farms as well as terrorising foreign African families into returning to their home countries in so-called 'xenophobic' attacks. On Friday, 2 January 2009, detectives from the Howick police station in Pietermaritzburg , acting on very specific information, also went all the way to upmarket Sandton near Johannesburg to arrest three farm-attack gang members. Police spokesman Henry Budhram said the three men 'formed part of a national farm-attack gang which travels all over the country to attack farms'. They were seeking them for the December 10 2008 farm attack at Freeland Farm in Dargle, KZN.
They arrested the three at an upmarked luxury home in Sandton and recovered four stolen firearms and a shotgun looted from Freeland Farm during the robbery. The victims, Mrs Linzi-Anne Smith (62), her husband, Robert, (65) and two friends were assaulted - especially the old woman was targetted.
The car they took, was found abandoned nearby shortly thereafter.

Farmer's widow's throat cut in Nelspruit:
The latest victim of these farm-attack gangs is a widowed macadamia-farmer of Nelspruit, Mrs Saar Holtzhauzen (64), who was found with her throat slashed inside her homestead on Sunday, January 11.
This brings the total number of murdered white farmers in South Africa to 3,031 since 1994. The country only has about 11,000 commercial farmers left - down from 85,000 in 1994. The 2005 tax records, the latest available, said they only had 13,500 taxpaying commercial farmers on their tax-registers the previous year with 350,000 fulltime farmworkers.
Large-scale looting had clearly not been the motive in this murder either; the key to her gun-safe was still in her hand and her cellphone was next to her when her body was discovered by neighbours. Her throat had been cut. An old computer was missing. Mrs Holtzhausen was a widow, her husband Professor Kas Holtzhausen, a well-known agricultural expert and macadamia-farmer, died six months earlier.
Farm confiscation programme top of the agenda for political parties
All the commercial farms in this very fertile region have been earmarked by the ANC-government for confiscation. And things will only get worse for the Afrikaners in the countryside, as both the African National Congress and its breakaway party, COPE, have placed this farm-confiscation programme on the top of their political agendas for April's presidential elections.
Serious drop in food production due to farm murders and land-confiscation:
The food-production from this region -- which supplied huge quantities of fresh produce and fruit to the Johannesburg market - has dropped by more than 60% since the confiscation programme started.
This programme also caused massive unemployment and the depopulation of the countryside: 1,2m black farm workers have already lost their farm-jobs since 1994 and have been forced off the farms with their families by the new black owners.
They migrated to the cities where they now live in dismal poverty in squatter towns. The drop in food-production in SA is also confirmed by the satellite-based observations of the CIA.
They note that less than one percent of the entire South African land surface now is still being used for irrigated crop-production -- causing local food prices to triple this past year. See CIA statistics:

Afrikaner couple fired at by security official, Boksburg:
And also on Sunday, an elderly Afrikaner couple was fired at by a security official while driving back home from their church in Boksburg. Local Afrikaans newspaper Beeld journalist Gloria Edwards reports that Chris and Nancy Pretorius, in their seventies, were attacked for no apparent reason at all. Pretorius said he had stopped at in the middle-lane the highway at a traffic light on the corner of Fifth Lane and Seventh Street in Benoni when a security official of CMS-security suddenly stopped his car in front of theirs and 'just started shooting at us without saying anything.'"When the light turned green, I saw this vehicle with CMS-markings chase across the road against the traffic flow and stop sideways in front of my car.
"The guard jumped out and fired a shot at my car which entered through the passenger side door where my wife was seated. "The bullet cracked the window and bounced away. I waved my hand from the window and shouted 'Stop'."Then he fired another shot towards our car.'
Then a large number of other CMS-vehicles showed up and the men inside claimed that he had been fired at by 'hijackers', he said. The elderly couple were taken to a local hospital for trauma-treatment.Police captain Nakana of the Benoni police wasn't very sympathetic: he said while they were 'investigating charges of attempted murder against the CMS-guard,' it had also clearly been 'a case where the couple had been 'caught in cross-fire between hijackers and security guards'.
Pretorius most vehemently denies this sanitised version of events. 'There were no other cars near us. We saw the guard walking right up to us from the front and pointing their gun at us, and firing. The bullet holes in the car prove this.

Afrikaners say that such incidents prove that the country is without leadership, and out of control. Such actions by black security officers go unpunished, and is just one symptom of the mismanagement the country is suffering from.
The coalition of the ruling African National Party, the Cosatu trade union movement and the SA Communist Party are all warring internally and jostling for leadingship positions. Politicial assassinations have also been reported in this increasingly nasty infighting while the next general elections are now said to be planned for April. South Africans are increasingly fearful that these elections will be very violent – the current hate-speech rhetoric from top black leaders and the increasing political violence are all an indication of things to come.
The ANC's socalled 'caretaker-government' - appointed without elections after pres. Thabo Mbeki was unceremoniously kicked out of his position as leader of the ANC by Jacob Zuma -- is not steering the ship of State at all. Nobody is calling the police force to order, the Freedom Front Plus is warning.
Meanwhile ethnic minorities such as Afrikaners and the country's many millions of illegal black African migrants from other parts of the continent, are increasingly being blamed publicly for the country's political implosion.
Among the Cosatu trade union movement, hate-speech targetting Afrikaner whites is particularly rife and forms an integral part of their protest campaigns.
These unions and sonamed 'non-governmental civic associations' even blame the Afrikaner farmers now for not producing enough food to feed the country any longer - when these food-shortages are directly due to the ANC-government's own policies of confiscating flourishing, food-producing farms and handing this land over to people who have no knowledge of farming.
'Why are so many people hungry?' Kuruman land-campaigner...
A 'Land-rights campaigner' in the semi-arid Kuruman area in the northern Cape, Maria Manong, whose group is threatening to forcibly occupy land which they have placed a claim on, testified at the Portfolio committee on Public Works regarding the temporarily-shelved Expropriation Bill (B16-2008) on 17 June 2008
'Organized agricultural unions in South Africa profess to be feeding the country. Only because of this, they believe government should not even think of expropriating land from them..
'If they are feeding the country, then why are so many people in South Africa hungry, why are we importing wheat, and maize when the price of bread is so high, why are we importing meat, and other food products?
'I suggest that this is a misconception, that they are not feeding the country. Instead, they are busy turning their agricultural farms into game farms, eco-tourism hubs, golf courses and bio-fuel production centres. This means less land is being used for agricultural food production.'
One fact is clear: there are only some 11,000 commercial farmers left now, and South Africa has to import massive quantities of staple-foods at huge cost these days. Thus South Africa has been changed from a food-exporting country to a food-importer within just a decade - with thousands of once productive farms lying fallow and neglected, their valuable topsoil blowing away and the infrastructure usually ripped out and sold for scrap. See the online book, The Great South African Land Scandal, describing this process in great detail, from farm to farm...
Racial hatred by people in positions of power...
One of the Afrikaners' main parliamentary representative parties, the Freedom Front Plus, today lodged formal charges with the human rights commission over a specific hate-speech incident by black police officers in the agricultural town of Odendaalsrust, and who had allegedly told a farmer that 'all white dogs in South Africa will be killed.'And the Christian Democratic Alliance has also expressed deep concern over these incidents, urging the government to investigate these incidents.
"Actions where racial hatred is stoked are unacceptable, especially when coming from people in positions of power,' Southgate told the South African press association.
Senior journalist Gerhard de Bruin writes that the Ladysmith police have formed a special task force to try and find a racist gang, which targets only elderly whites inside their homes at night. This gang's hallmark is its extreme cruelty, both the victims and the police say.
Noting that their main motive does not seem to be looting, police also say that this gang goes extreme lengths to reach their victims, even crawling underneath electrified fencing and razor wire, and braving the region's traditional boerbull guard dogs.
All white dogs in South Africa will be killed
The Freedom Front Plus party also today lodged formal charges with the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) against two black police officers in Odendaalsrust for allegedly cursing a farmer as a "white dog".
Freedom Front spokesman Pieter Groenewald cited the incident involving Constables Mokwena and Mafabatho of the Odendaalsrus police station, in which they had called a farmer a "white dog" and said "all white dogs in South Africa will be killed".
"You would surely agree that such actions, especially by members of the police, cannot be tolerated and is definitely hate speech," he said. And these incidents occur more and more, he said - especially among the police service.
"It cannot be tolerated and decisive action is required. This hate speech is unconstitutional, and a contravention of section 16 of the Constitution, Act 108 of 1996'. The party leadership also requested from the acting Safety and Security Minister Nathi Mthethwa to immediately suspend the two constables while the charges are being investigated.
"These actions of police members attest to naked racism and hate speech,' he said. "Actions such as these incite racial hatred between black and white people which will in future boil over into open conflict if drastic action is not taken."The farmer -- who cannot be identified for fear of victimisation -- has also lodged criminal charges against the two constables last week for illegally pointing a firearm at him; for crimen injuria and for illegal trespassing, he said.

Afrikaners are growing increasingly destitute in South Africa. More than one-third of the 3-million Afrikaners are homeless and unable to work due to the restrictions placed on them by the ANC-government.
