Fit For Presidency

I hear the term, "Not Fit" used a lot lately.

I propose that everyone tell us your version of "Fit" and give reasons and examples why this would work.

Ah, what a great thread. I've become quite irritated with people throwing around their opinion of who is "fit" or "not fit."

In order to lead a country a person absolutely must intrinsically have a world view that is, at its core, derived from peace.

A previous profession as a senator or governor may help in acquiring this mindset, or it may do the opposite.

If the public is not equipped to clearly see the candidate's true nature, due to their own ignorance or deceit on the part of the candidate, then the voting process should be heavily scrutinized and most likely changed.

Great question, probably no good answers.

I'm left feeling that anyone trained in or planning on continuing current political status quo should never be allowed in any public office.

Because that is the opposite of the CHANGE this country and world needs.

And honestly, our elected figurehead has little to do with running the country.

And when it comes down to it, the people that need to become fit, or at least engaged, is we.

Funny thing I watched a similar forum's thread which was based on the concept that not having decided yet. Why should they vote for McCain? Tended to be more about the qualifications or non-qualifications of O-bomb-ma?

I'm not sure who you are talking shit to, but I have noticed you haven't provided any answers and you've posted in this thread twice, so you are in fact referring to yourself.

This is not a "real question", this is a question of opinion unless you want the legal parameters in which a president is technically qualified.

Therefore, answers of profundity will be in short supply, as you have proven with your own lack of provding any.

Anyone can be president, who is fit to me is someone who would enact actual change in an attempt to address and correct a corrupt system.

You ask such an open ended question AW, that it simply cannot be answered unless a person either gives very vague answers with equally open ended interpretation (which Ironwood and myself have done), or a ton of effort is put forth to ultimately exert ones own opinion (which no one would take the time to read on a forum anyway) and is probably better suited for a novel of some kind.

Speaking of which, if you really wanted to learn about what makes a good leader you should do a lot of reading from experts on the subject rather than asking a bunch of dingbats on the internets that piss you off by not writing novels on a whim to answer your questions.

We all posted things very relevant to the post. To claim that we don't know how to define "fit" in are own minds is obscure and I take great offense to it.

Fit for presidency.
The president of the most powerful nation on earth to date, the president of a country facing histories problems again, who is fit and why? If you are looking for the answer, then study history and decide.
Here is my opinion when I look at who I would want as president should pursue.
There is a time to raise and lower taxes. If you're too greedy to pay more money to improve our country help the country while it's in need, pay back the money you think you earned and leave. You do not care for this nation, you should not be in this nation, and you do not appreciate what our founding gave us. (D/R by situation)

Health care and insurance isn't some evil socialistic goal. It's proof that a country has the ability to look out after its own citizens. You can try to use the example how government run hospitals are lousy, but when you actually start being intelligent and look at the resources to care ratio they have to deal with vs other well funded hospitals, you'll see that money is a factor.

How society treats those it doesn't need is a sign of what that society is. Putting prisoners to work and rehabilitating them doesn't mean we want to throw money out (see above, really we need it) it means we care for our citizens, even those that mess up.(D)

Everyone has the right to be able to readily defend themselves. No one should ever be put in a position where some mugger or burglar has the upper hand on an unsuspecting family. Those that desire to steal or harm others for gain should never have the upper hand on law abiding citizens. (R)

There is a reason our founding fathers separated church from state. You have your beliefs, I have mine. Your actions define who you are. Not your religion, way of life, or other belief. (D)

Lying, cheating, stealing, murder are agreeably evil by nearly every religion, way of life, belief and opinion. All of which should be prosecuted and dealt with accordingly. Corruption is not acceptable, it is the single most identifiable reason nations fail. Because money doesn't go where its needed. (D)

This must be a political debate! How can you tell by the unending rivalry that manifest itself as offensive characterizations formed by personality conflicts.
What is needed is government serving the people as the people serve each other . . . which was stated previously as to why or how we ( the nation) became such a sorry state (of affairs).
