Voila! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. - Hugo Weaving as "V"

I had an incredible amount of pure fun and joy watching Transformers. I was amazed at how well they kept with the spirit of the original cartoon series. The movie started out being very much a typical lame ass Hollywood boy meets girl flick, but as the story developed I felt more and more like I was watching the humor and storyline of the television series. The sound effects were particularly impressive to me, giving the autobots and decepticons distinctively different sounds which made them have very different personalities. I actually felt real emotions toward Bumblebee and Optimus Prime (I LOVE Peter Cullen btw). The action is intense and in a few parts a little violent, but any kind of gore is left to your own imagination. Things were updated for modern technology and it all seemed plausible in an "alien invasion" scenario sense. I'm certain this movie will dominate the box office, at least until Harry Potter hits theaters.

Something of note - The very secretive film being produced by JJ Abrams premiered its first trailer, which has sparked a ton of interest on the internet. I suggest going to Transformers early so you catch this thing... I was totally blown away. Its unofficial title is Cloverfield. It is supposedly a "giant monster" type movie... Godzilla in New York? I don't know.

Transformers ratings:

As a fan - 8.5/10
As a film critic - 7/10
