The "Idea of God" was a concept created out of man's inane need to justify its existence and what it was not yet capable of explaining rationally. However in this day and age superstition is best to be given no serious thought. The idea that humanity is "dependant" on the graces and authority of god to continue its existence is an absurd notion at best.

in all this world
there is not one major ruling government
and that in turn bringsforth wars and famine and all that good stuff
and anarchy is not a government
its the lack of government

Das Kaptal, God means different things for different people. Even if you don't beleive in God, you perhaps still need to have faith in something, which prevents your life from being meaningless. The search for meaning in life is as much relevant in this 'modern' age as it was 5 thousand years ago

My life is quite meaningful without god I find your statement quite absurd the Idea that we need to accept superstition to live a meaningful life is quite pathetic. I would agree that the search for the meaning of life is relevant however it is best done by using rational means. Claiming that the sun rises because Ra deems it so or that "God" controls ones life is nonsensical dribble.

Thus as I presume you agree too, you need to have meaning in your life-that meaning can be beleiving that the sun rises because of Ra, or that all terrorists must be killed to stopping global warming.

I dont have faith in anything I believe in something based on evidence faith is acceptance based little or no evidence hence I dismiss it.

You may consider that to be particularly nihilistic so be it.

hmm, as a sidenote perhaps too much reliance on logic limits a person. There is much more to life than dull evidence based analysis and logic.

Evidence based analysis and logical thought are the reasons for humanities evolution from hunter gatherer and feudal societies. It has been the driving force for change in a society it's the reason you and I can sit here and enjoy this pleseant conversation.

Athiesm is benificial because it refuses to accept superstition as a credible force within the universe. I dont rule out the possibility of mystery there are things that cannot be explained however science and rational thought will eventually prodce the answer's to these questions. However divinity is a completely useless and over used concept.
