Maybe in some ways but it isn't really Christmas that is celebrated. Most people exchange gifts and get a tree but they do not celebrate the birth of Christ. Remember that many atheists also celebrate christmas.

I think the teachers took things personal and they should not have, as they were not meant to be personal. But teachers make mistakes as we all do, and they have a really tough job, kids are out of hand (but it was worse when I was a kid, we used to sit in a circle on the playground and smoke dope). We need to give them teachers some lea way.

There will always be a gray erea between tolorance and offense, and I will always usually side with tolorance.
