Ah... the original post.
That's a loaded question... with so many possible answers. Religion by the definition in the dictionary I have means "quest for god" so from that perspective religion and freedom are definitely possible.
I know what you're getting at though and I think for some people religion can have a stifling affect, especially if it's looked at with or through the idea of fear, are we free if we are afraid? No.
But this also depends on what your idea of "freedom" is. I'm not sure any of us know what that truly means. Do you know what you mean when you say "freedom"?
