I would have to say that if there is a hell, people like hitler go there. You got to really screw up. I mean - to earn eternal damnation in the eternal flames. If such a place does exist - You got to really screw up to get there.

It wouldn't be a place you go to just because you're not saved. (You were born on this earth and you're not convinced that Jesus is your savior). that certainly would not earn eternal damnation in eternal flames.

Personally, I feel the teaching of hell was designed as a scare tactic to make you an obedient follower of another persons teachings. And if you don't believe that, you'll go to hell.

Murder sometimes has to be. Murder being probably the biggest evil, I don't think warrants hell - However - it might warrant purgatory, I might believe in that. The only hell I know of is the eternal hell fire and I think that's a bit much for committing murder. If I was a judge - Death to those who commit murder and hell to those who create hell. (Like hitler)

Some people are evil. Science won't admit to that, but anyone who has lived a while knows that there are some people who are evil. What makes them evil and can they change - To each I think that is an individual thing. There is no blanket answer that applies to all humans.

I think all of us have the capacity to be very evil or very righteous, neither of which is our natural state. Either or is not natural for us. Naturally we survive. Confucius understood this, this is why he taught that at the head of any wicked land is a wicked leader and the head of any righteous land is a righteous leader. We will follow the leader as much as our survival depends on it, if that means being righteous or evil. Some have gone beyond this, becoming leaders or martyrs themselves for others to follow. Being either very righteous or evil, such is a freak of nature (my opinion)
Earning either heaven or hell if these places exist.
