Hinduism is very interesting. Here is a very intelegent religion. They now the world is round. They know that there are other worlds and they think they know how long this world will last. For everything there is a single God. Hinduism is the oldest of the major religions still around. When I study the Hindu religion I wonder if we were visited by alians from another planet who taught us the Hindu religion.

I have read all of the teachings of Confucious - wow - what a wise man he was. I wrote a poem about him. A miracle, an ugly bastard child with a speech impediment in a socialist world becomes one of the greatest men alive, almost a ruler himself, but turned it down. He studied from from libraries that nolonger exist. They were from the time of antiquety. One must wonder what wisdom was found in these libraries that made confucious so wise. These libraries, where did they come from? In history and the bible there is reference to libraries from all over the world. I've only studied a little of Budda, but he too was a great and wise man.

I knew this chaplain in the Navy who told me that 600 years before Jesus was born there were seven great men all around the world. Buddha and Confucious were two of them. He did not know what this meant, but thought it had some connection.

If you study all the religions you will learn something from all of them, and, you will find similarities. Like: "Do unto others as you would do unto yourself." This saying is found in all the major religions, the words are just twisted around a little differently.

Dumbteen - you have to be willing to see every side of a round world. That's impossible you say - yep, it is. But no side is the right side. Its not a black and white world. Each color is just as important as the next, though different, they all have something to share.

It would be fascinating as to which Library Buddha studied. If I may interject, it might have been the writing's and ponderings of Solomon. Who was the wisest man and king to ever exist.
(Wisest in the way of man, that is)
God had given him the wisdom above all other men. So, if I were a betting individual, it would have been Solomon's writings.

IF I were to desire to study ANY person's thoughts, IT would be Solomon's. In which case, Buddha also had been formed through God's wisdom, given to Solomon. But since we shall not know where he learned, it still makes for fascinating philosophy. Read King's to know of Solomon.

2 Kings 12; 24
'And David comforted Bethsabee his wife, and went in, unto her, and slept with her; and she bore a son, and he called him Solomon, and the Lord loved him.'
3 Kings 1; 37
'As the Lord hath been with my lord the king, so be He with Solomon, and make his throne higher than the throne of my lord king David.'
3 Kings 3; 12
'behold I have done for thee according to thy words; and have given thee a wise and understanding heart, insomuch that there hath been no one like thee before thee, nor shall arise after thee.'
Thanks Okcity.

And yet for all his wisdom, Solomon could not robe himself better than the lilies of the field! But as you said the Wisdom of Man is noought but foolishness compared to GOD.

Man created god in his own image!

God is man's way of explaining the unknown.
Science is quickly taking over that chore.

Science is the record of dead religions.

I stopped believing in any specific religion when I started believing in God.

On a side note, my daughters and husband are Catholic.

God is the reason science exists.
The very laws the universe was set up is the way God made it to happen. I am positive that, since he lives for all time, he will make other universes and has made other universes with different sciences.

Then the question is : is it more likely God made man or man made god?

Well put. You can believe in beliefs or you can believe in God.

I think man made god and God made man. Because while there is a God, mens little heads will create only what it can understand. I think to partly grasp God, one must take everything and mash it all together, behold, you have a likeness of God, and even that would be a skewed view.

Cturtle that has a lot of truth to it.

Example is when people say..."God should have done this or that..and I will believe in Him...etc etc."

Testing God....?
It is ok to ask, and ye shall find...
BUT do NOT humanize God.

When I say humanize...ppl say how hard and cold God was in the old testament.

Not COMPLETELY true.... Number one; He sent warnings and prophets, and showed good works to proof to a hard society He was with them, and He was the only God.

and....because we do not know the hearts of the men God punished.
We do not know how offensive they were. (Though looking at the world today...I could very wel see his just anger giving rise over the situation.)
And to say HE KILLED anyone is ludicrous. Because God does NOT kill...he does not murder...He lets people die, and sorts out the good ones.
He is the Creator...He gave life...and when He deems time has been sufficient for that particular life...they are then returned to him...
OR given over to suffering ETERNAL DAMNATION.

However, point to fact...only He knows how much a person was taught..and judges their hearts accordingly.

Though we see life in the human perspective...we must understand only GOD knows what is necessary, what is good.

Jesus came to stand in our place...to give His life in place for ours. To suffer the scourges so we have hope for salvation.
Remember we must always work to be worthy...and always be mindful to be grateful.

Thanks Ct...good quote.
