Recommendations

Hey I recently got into some 70's and 80's mafia or just gritty crime movies, a lot of them directed by Martin Scorcese (I'm only 13, so this is the first time i've seen these). Stuff like Scarface, Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, Dog Day Afternoon, the Godfather movies, Goodfellas (1990), and others. I realized I loved this stuff, and was just wondering if anyone could recommend more movies like these.

You might like "road to peridtion" with tom hanks, it was released just last year I think,

"Gotti"_The rise and fall of a Don.
"The Sopranos"_1st 2nd and 3rd season.
"A Bronx Tale"_definite

cop lands a little different ( and some were hesitant to say they liked it but I did) and it has some of the old guido's and gumba's, and believe it or not, if you step back and check out some of the 40's to 60's classics you'll find some gems, I wish i had some names of those but i don't,

If mary scorscesse appeals in general you might enjoy kings of new york, it was decent, and somewhat epic. Kind of a history lesson on the beggings of the immigrants that became the mobs.

not a mob flick but one of the era and feel, Fall Time with stephan baldwin and mickey rourke and some others was just a surprisingly good, but somewhat twisted movie, if you can find it, i think thats what its called

But if your lookin at strictly mob don't worry bout that last one.

You've seen goodfellas and thats my fav of the genre

Older mob movies like "St. Valentines day masacre" is a classic from the 40's, and New Jack City is one that is considered, or at least modeled after a modern New York Scarface.

what about Serpico? ...i guess its not exactly in that genre, but its a good movie still.

Carlito's way is a pacino one, Heat with pacino and deniro is good, what to do in denver when you're dead (it really is a movie, gots walken and others), True Romance has an element of interest, Black Rain is a japanese mafia flick but is real good, Hoffa is decent, shit whats thename of the one with Costner as the cop after capone, played by deniro, with a part with Sean Connery, thats one you want to see, oh ya, the Untouchables, there ya go.
I don't know if Mobsters was any good but it had a good cast.

Not necessarily typical mob style movies but my two favourite crime movies of all time...

How about Casino ?

Snatch goes in with lock stock etc, same director too, plus one of Brad Pitts coolest characters.

Casino was a suggestion and not a question right, it was ok, sharon stone was good, everything else was goodfellas rerun.

Speaking of great Brad Pitt characters... did you ever see Kalifornia? Brad Pitt's Early character was classic!... and that's what made me fall in love with Juliette Lewis' acting.

Yes Snatch... I saw that one first, then Lock Stock. I liked Lock Stock better though, perhaps because it was less "Hollywood".

I thought both were just ok, I just loved Brad's character for a few reasons

Kalifornia was good I've alway liked that fruit Juliette Lewis.
