Sure the war on pot is a waste of time, but I still think you have a problem with the idea that drugs that can cause death ought to be banned.
H, and Coke can be argued in that way, but then so can tobacco and alcohol with far more evidence; then you have a vast range of legal prescription drugs that you would also have to ban on that criterion.

I don't think we can afford to ban tobacco and alcohol. I do agree though...I've been hospitalized for organ failure because I was drinking so heavily as a teenager.

I guess the problem I have is that when you can be addicted to something in the way heroin works...
I no longer consider the person 'In their right mind.'

I've never seen anyone sell themselves for tobacco or alcohol- of course that's because they're legal.

Again, torn. Enjoying the conversation though.

You've drunk yourself into hospital through drinking and you are accusing others of not being in their right mind?
Are you having a laugh?

Do you know junkies sell themselves for H?
Because it is illegal it is ridiculously expensive.
Pure H is harmless; most of the problems with it come from the fact that it is cut with shit.

No I'm saying people aren't in their right mind because I've drank myself into organ failure. I'm not accusing either, my idea that people aren't making rational choices stems from being protective of people, not accusatory.

Not to mention I am never in my right mind, but we don't want to mold society to a borderline's standards. It's not much of a joy ride.

Every post on this thread has had a valid point. Thus, I would deduce that there is no simple answer.

A better approach might be the pragmatic one: 1)What do we want to accomplish. 2)How best to accomplish that? I do not perceive that we have even agreed on item number 1.

I think that we can all agree what we are doing now is not working, so the whole thing has to be rethought.

Before you know what we want we have to define the problem.

The problem is that some do drugs and others do not want them to.

I know, I ended a sentence in a preposition. I know that I am not supposed to.
