"but if you believe in God through reason, what need is there for faith?"

because at some point you need to jump from scientific probability to religious certainty.

Hmm... Very good point, never thought of that.

Then the question arises is religion certain or do they believe? -which is a more stand out point of probability. Certainty isn't based on relgion but on personal knowledge so regardless of if your sect is certain on Gods existence or not if your personal knowledge is not there yet then you're still in the stage of mere probability...and religion won't get you there or help you....YOU make your decision!

belief gives way to so many emotions that you don't have any control over....anger, ignorance, faith. I may sound like a little devil but hear me out.

blind date scenario... your friend tells you that he's setting you up on a date with this sexy, intelligent girl. You trusting your friend do not object to his words. Somebody else (another close buddy of yours) learns of your date and tells you that you shouldn't go on this date because the girl is ugly....You being so trustworthy of your friend get angry because there's no way that anybody could taint your belief in his judgement, you then jump into ignorance and begin saying that the person is just mad that you're going on a date and they aren't. After this you have so much belief in your friends words that you're faithful to the knowledge he gave you of your future date. Faith or not you still don't know what your date looks like so the truth or false in the situation is still up for grabs.

Certainty is not believing but acknowledging and gathering information until you can find out for yourself.......

see, heres the thing. at some point, our minds cease to comprehend. science doesn't prove anything, it disproves things. for instance, take gravity. one would say that gravity works, it's a law, it happens. but there is always the possibility that at some point, you might drop that apple and it may just not fall. not probable, but possible. you have faith that every time you drop the apple it's going to fall. you base this faith on probability. it is probable that the apple will fall, and so you have faith that it will. Religion is a less tangible form of this. after going through the evidence, you come to the conclusion that either God is probable, or he is not. i have decided that God is probable, and so he becomes certain.

But do you honestly see that much evidence for him? I don't. It seems more like people want to believe in him regardless of what we observe.

from what i've learned and seen so far, the evidence for God is sufficient. i just don't think the holes poked in this evidence is enough to convince me it's false. have you ever considered that people don't want to believe in him just as much as they do want to believe in him? I've heard that argument used quite a lot. people want to believe in god. but what are the advantages and disadvantages to a belief in God,really? people want to believe in God because it means they will have eternal happiness. but, on the other hand, they have to live their lives on someone else's terms. if i call myself a Christian, and admit the beliefs it encompasses, i have to do my best not to sin. in the essense of the belief, i'm a slave to my God. my body isnt my own, i can't do what i want with it. neither can i let my thoughts or actions do anything that would contradict my God, because i have to be a reflection of him. it's a burden. of course now that i carry it i would never go back, but it's not just a relief to all my intellectual problems. it's not just a fallback for when i die. it's a dedication of my life. however, if i don't believe in God, i can do what i please with my body. i can indulge in anything that makes me feel good. i can treat other people however i want, because the only thing i have to live up to is my own opinion of myself. no, i think people have equal reasons to want to believe and to not believe. really, if someone just wants a feel good religion, there's plenty out there. why choose Christianity?

Angel you ask for a concrete explanation on the presence and existence of God yet you're alive!..... You believe in the air, gravity, and all the invisible forces out in this universe of ours....you believe in the ability to move knowing that without the breath inside you no amount of brain power could make your eyelash twitch.....If you understand and believe in everything physical and the genetical make up of everything then you know God.....Is God the all seeing eye from an above heaven? isn't that paganism, isn't that the eye on the front of the american dollar?.....why hope for an all seeing eye and not the power of vision? why be afraid of consequences from your actions?.....what's wrong with being free?....Freedom is the only outlet, your actions have no hold on you, yet nothing evil seems interesting to you because in the end you go back to the original goodness each time. The he that is being placed on God is nothing but a lack of a better explanation for a creator that is generless, limitless, and fully out of our perception on any plane of understanding. What you want something more concrete than that?....

Aight go to a morgue and ask to see anybody who had recently come in, 5 minutes the max....look at them laying on the stretcher and tell them to wake up, give them a jolt of electricity through their body see if that will wake them up...Stimulate the brain to work in the way it used to....after all that the person still won't live! why? because your body is not controlled by the electric pulses coursing through your body, not the nervous system but the breath!...without the breath you will never live because the breath is life, and that breath is God...not the He/she/it God...but the ultimate reality which is the creator!.......And yes you can argue that people have been brought back to life.......and do you think man can give life through his own power? when none of that power is his?......whatever happens is a necessity for life..so if somebody is revived then it's necessary for their loved ones. keep askin questions....I like this

IF science had all knowledge, they err in being unable to disproove God.

Altho proof is in all surroundings...in tears, in sweat, in so many things. In mountains and trees, water and air and gravity and animals, and female and male species...etc

BUT emotions have no tangible reasoning...and those emotions are the very proof we come from someone who has all of this and more.

Hunger, thirst...etc are scientifically prooven, love is not.
Love may change the chemicals of the brain, but there are no tangible reasons for it...but we know it exists because it is felt.

This is the same for God. He is felt...thru faith. FAITH is not tangible...but it exists. IT could NOT exist if it did not manifest itself.

Same with love, it would not exist if it did not manifest itself to the one in love.

IF we were an emotionless creature with seemingly autotomic reactions we would not feel love, nor faith.

Scientists can only explain tangible substance...and it makes no sense even for scientists why we love. Yes, the chemicals in the brain change due to the 'love' but it is by no means an answer why love exists.

AND they cannot answer why faith exists. IT is not a mere reflex...because it comes from emotions...and yet, where do emotions come from?

FROM a Higher Being Who gives the same He has....emotions.

Faith derives from the intangible, and God is intangible.
Therefore we have faith from God.
