Catholics include scripture of the jewish tradition which do not have minor books which are not within the main stream jewish traditions, which is where the fire & brimstone as well as purgatory come. (I gather that muslims see this existence as such [or as hell] but I am not familiar with the Qran & their belief system). The catholic bible contains these OT books which other christians bibles do not.
Jews believe Christ has yet to come while christians believe that he came as Jesus & will return, Jews & Muslims see Jesus as a prophet.

Both Jewish tradition and christian belief that one must reach an age to make decisions for yourself (come an adult ability to make judgements before you are responsible for your actions (sins) but the infant mortality of the dark ages in Europe produced such firvour among the people that infant baptism were given to quite their fears about the fate of their departed infants.
