Conspiracry Theory
I have been following the news this winter layoff closely, particularly the attempts to completely secularize our nation's government, but also reading the garbage spewed by a certain person here, when I started thinking deeply about it. In light of several items, including an apparent escalation to religious hate crimes and hate harassment against pagans, and the recent stubbornness against secularization, it made me wonder...

Is there a small, but influential group among those of the Christian Faith, who are using their influence upon their religious community to further their own agenda for political power and material possession?

Now, I certainly do not think all Christians are of this ilk, for every Christian I get who asks if I have eaten any babies recently, there are several dozen who are outstanding persons, understanding and respectful of others beliefs. But the incidences of very negative behavior and outright violence are escalating, particularly to our children in public schools. I cannot believe, from those true Christians I have come in contact with, that all of you feel the same way towards others. Accepting? Sure, in an ideal situation. Tolerant? We could all wish for at least that. Unfortunately, antagonism and persecution seem to be the rule of the day. In a theocracy, it would seem much easier for those elite few at the top to have their opinions filter down through the masses, as opposed to a democracy, where th leaders are supposed to follow the wishes of the masses.

So, please share your opinions and thoughts on this growing concern in the US.

Nope, not the (or jsut the?) Government this time. What I speak of is a small group within the Christain Church hierarcy, who have a purely political agenda, to achieve as much power as they can.

It may very well be a group of thousands, but I will explain my reasoning. In a theocracy, which is what any religious institution is, all policies come from a select few at the top, or even by one person in control of the entire establishment. Or may come from an even smaller segment that has the ear of the top people or person, yes?

There just is no room for a democratic style of self-government in a theocracy, so the opinions and the wishes of the populace of the membership of that institution are largely unheard. In fact, to be a 'good worshipper' by definition, a member of that group must take on the opinions and beliefs of that top person or persons, yes? Or they are ostracized and cast out immediately, for thinking for themselves, or as the leaders call it 'heresy'. And since Christians in most cases are very religious people, to be cast out of their Church in such a manner would be tantamount to a one-way ride on the express elevator to their Hell.

So, by utilizing the above criteria, one could come to the conclusion that only a small, ruling segment of that institution was controlling the masses of that institution, particularly in light of such blatant illogical, and unchristian thinking rampant among a portion of the Christian Faith. One could also surmise that a 'secret cabal' bends the ears of the leader regularly, or that a small, influential and charismatic group within the hierarchy is pressing their views on their flocks.

Following is an example of a Fundamental Agenda, which would include the 'death penalty for being homosexual, for having or performing (or assisting someone to have or perform) an abortion, for living in 'sin' (including all unconventional partnerships, love styles, and family structures), for practicing 'witchcraft' (any minority religious, metaphysical, astrological or New Age belief system), and for having or distributing pornography.' I hope everyone notices the rather open ended statement of 'sin'. We are not talking of Afghanistan, but of a Reverend who recently made a stab at the White House, who has been quoted as saying 'There will never be world peace until God's house and God's people are given their rightful place of leadership at the top of the world.'

This is the one outstanding downfall of any of this type of governing procedure, whether in organizations, companies, or politics, particularly on a global scale. When the opinions of one man, or a very small council of men, are held as law, mistakes and misinterpretations of applicable founding documents or scriptures, are almost inevitable. The Catholic Church is jam packed full of Popes who had questionable motivations and morals. So could one blame the number of Fundies who disregard other people's beliefs, in light of what I have mentioned here? In my opinion, only those top levels primates who govern the will of their people are really to blame.
